02 · GROUP FORMATION

Carefully Formed Play Groups

Every session is limited to six dogs so the playground remains comfortable, manageable and properly supervised.

Groups are formed according to:

01 · Proportions

Size

Carefully matched by physical build and stature to prevent unintentional intimidation or physical overwhelm.

02 · Developmental Stage

Age

Puppies, active adults, and seniors each need different physical tempos, play rhythms, and sensory engagement.

03 · Behavior Style

Temperament

Harmonious cohorts balanced between enthusiastic playmates, quiet scent explorers, and polite observers.

04 · Physical Drive

Energy Level

Fast sprinters are grouped together, while low-arousal sniffers enjoy uninterrupted, peaceful exploration.

05 · Confidence

Social Comfort

Evaluated by how dogs interact in novel spaces, ensuring shy dogs get quiet breathing room and bold dogs find appropriate play.

06 · Well-Being

Physical Needs

Special consideration for joint sensitivity, flat-faced breathing rhythms, and recovery requirements.

03 · FLOOR SUPERVISION

Supervised Throughout

2 Trained Handlers · Maximum 6 Dogs

Two trained handlers remain inside the playground throughout active play. They observe the dogs, guide introductions and redirect interactions whenever necessary.

Our handlers never act as passive spectators. They remain at dog eye level, monitoring subtle micro-signals—from ear sets to soft postural shifts—to ensure interactions remain gentle, consensual, and joyful.

Handlers May:

  • Slow down or pause an interaction
  • Redirect a dog towards another activity
  • Separate dogs when required
  • Provide a quiet break
  • Contact the pet parent
  • End participation when continuing is unsuitable
04 · CLINICAL CARE

On-Site Veterinary Support

A Vet Is Stationed at the Venue. A registered veterinarian is present at the venue throughout all playground sessions to support health checks and respond if medical attention is required.

01

Review Certificates

Verifies veterinary fitness documentation and vaccination currency at entry.

02

Assess Health

Evaluates immediate health concerns, gait abnormalities, or sudden fatigue.

03

First-Response Care

Provides immediate on-site clinical first-response care if unexpected issues arise.

04

Advise Handlers

Guides handlers directly on when a dog should pause, hydrate, or stop participating.

05

Coordinate Care

Arranges seamless referral and secondary veterinary transport if further care is required.

05 · AUTONOMY & COMFORT

Dogs Explore at Their Own Pace

Dogs are never required to complete every activity. They may sniff, pause, observe, play or return to the areas they enjoy most.

Additional consideration will be given to:

Consideration 01

Nervous or Shy Dogs

Allowed unhurried decompression in perimeter zones with zero forced socialization.

Consideration 02

Young Dogs

Guided through short, sensory-rich play bursts with mandatory resting breaks to prevent overstimulation.

Consideration 03

Senior Dogs

Encouraged toward gentle scent work, soft tactile mats, and cushioned rest stations.

Consideration 04

Rescue Dogs

Given extra patience and space to build confidence at their own self-selected timeline.

Consideration 05

Flat-Faced Breeds

Carefully monitored for heat dissipation and respiratory pacing with frequent cool-down intervals.

Consideration 06

Declared Physical Limitations

Play sessions and sensory obstacles adapted around individual orthopedic or mobility conditions.

06 · HYGIENE & SANITISATION

Cleaned Between Every Session

A 15-minute cleaning and playground reset is maintained between consecutive sessions.

The Reset Includes:

  • Cleaning shared play equipment
  • Refreshing drinking-water stations
  • Cleaning bowls and used items
  • Removing waste immediately
  • Checking digging pit & trails
  • Replacing used towels
  • Inspecting surfaces and equipment thoroughly
07 · PROTOCOL

If a Dog Feels Uncomfortable

1

Observe

Handlers continuously watch body posture, ear tension, tail position, and stress signals.

2

Pause or Redirect

Play is gently paused and the dog’s attention is redirected toward solitary sensory activities.

3

Move to Quieter Area

The dog is guided into a calm decompression zone away from other dogs to de-escalate arousal.

4

Involve Vet or Parent

The on-site vet assesses the dog’s emotional state or handlers immediately contact the pet parent.

Handlers may pause or end a dog’s playtime whenever necessary for their comfort or the safety of the group.
08 · PREPAREDNESS & GROUND RULES

Emergency Procedure & Experience Standards

Urgent Protocol

Emergency Procedure

A canine first-aid kit and registered veterinarian are available on-site. If urgent care is required, play will be stopped, the pet parent will be contacted and the vet will begin the appropriate first response. Further veterinary care will be arranged if necessary.

During the Experience

  • Dogs remain leashed until safely introduced by a handler
  • Fresh drinking water is available throughout
  • Participation in every activity is optional
  • Handlers may redirect or pause play
  • The on-site vet may assess a dog when required
  • Pet parents must remain reachable during the session
  • The playground is cleaned after every group
09 · FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Safety FAQs

Why is a veterinary fitness certificate required?

Every dog playing at JOJO interacts in a shared sensory environment. The certificate ensures that every dog on the floor is clinically fit, fully vaccinated, free of ticks/fleas and contagious illnesses, and approved by a licensed medical professional for supervised social play.

How can I download the certificate?

You can click the “Download Veterinary Fitness Certificate” button in the Entry Verification section of this page. This opens a printable format that you can take to your regular veterinarian to fill, sign, and stamp before your scheduled session.

How are dogs placed into groups?

Groups are strictly capped at 6 dogs and formed using 6 key criteria: size, age, temperament, energy level, social comfort, and physical needs. We never place high-arousal rough players in the same group as gentle explorers or fragile seniors.

Can nervous or senior dogs participate?

Yes, absolutely. Nervous and senior dogs receive gentle, quiet cohorts with unhurried access to the sensory trail, sniffing gardens, and cushioned resting areas. Handlers ensure they are never crowded or rushed.

What happens if my dog does not want to play?

Dogs are never forced to complete any activity. If your dog prefers to sniff quietly, sit on the turf, observe other dogs from a distance, or explore solo sensory stations, handlers respect their autonomy completely.

What happens if my dog feels uncomfortable?

Our handlers follow a strict 4-step protocol: observe early body language, pause or redirect play, move your dog to a quiet decompression area, and involve the on-site vet or contact you immediately. Handlers may end a session early if continuing is unsuitable.

Is a veterinarian present at the venue?

Yes. A registered veterinarian is stationed on-site at the venue during all playground sessions. They verify fitness certificates, monitor dogs, advise handlers, and provide immediate first-response medical care if required.

How is the playground cleaned?

We maintain a mandatory 15-minute sanitisation and equipment reset between every single session. In addition, our venue closes for a full 60-minute deep-cleaning break daily from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM for comprehensive hospital-grade disinfection and surface inspection.

What happens in an emergency?

In any emergency, play stops immediately. Our on-site veterinarian initiates immediate first-response clinical care with our fully equipped canine medical kit, the pet parent is contacted without delay, and secondary emergency veterinary hospital transport is coordinated if needed.
